About our Orinda concrete contractor crew
How a farm kid ended up pouring concrete in Orinda
I grew up on a family farm where you fixed what broke, so pouring a feed pad or patching a cracked water trough was just part of the week. I spent years on concrete crews around the East Bay, then started Cornerstone Orinda Concrete here in Orinda in 2020. We're best known for flatwork, meaning the driveways, patios and walks that lie flat on the ground, along with the walls, steps and foundations that go with them.
Most folks call because they want the job explained in plain words before any concrete shows up, and I'm happy to give the long answer. What's under the slab and where the water goes matter more than how it looks on pour day. That counts double in Orinda's older neighborhoods, where storm drains are often corrugated metal pipe that rusts out and costs plenty to fix. I'll also tell you up front that concrete cracks a little, and how we plan for it. You can see the rest of what we do on our home page.

What it's like to work with us
You deal with me from the first visit to the final look
I come out and look at every job myself, and I'm usually there on pour days while our crew lead and finishers form, pour and finish the work. That way the person who quoted your job is the one making sure it comes out right.
Most of our effort goes under the slab
We dig out and pack the subgrade, the dirt and gravel your slab sits on, and check where the water will run so it heads away from your house instead of toward it. Nobody sees that part on day one, and it's the first thing a cheap bid cuts, which is why it's the last place I'd save you money.
An estimate you can hold up next to other bids
Your written estimate spells out what's in and what's out, like hauling away the old concrete, so you're comparing bids fairly. If block suits your wall better than poured, or precast steps suit your budget, I'll tell you straight.
Licensed for the work, insured for your job
Serving Orinda Since 2020
Licensed and fully insured
California's Contractors State License Board licenses anyone who builds or alters structures in the state, and that license is required once a job needs a building permit, uses any extra workers or runs $1,000 or more in labor and materials. Most concrete jobs clear that bar easily, so ask any contractor you're considering whether they hold one.
Where we pour, on both sides of the hills
We're based in Orinda and work in cities all around it, so if yours isn't listed, give us a call anyway.
